Weekly Somatics Classes - On Zoom
Tuesdays, 9:30 - 10:30am ET and 5:30 - 6:30pm ET
Clinical Somatic Movement
Working directly with our nervous system is what makes clinical somatic education a powerful tool for lasting change. Learn to sense the tension your body holds, unconsciously, out of your awareness, as we practice gentle movements to find more freedom and ease of movement in all that you do.
Once you sense and feel your body from a new perspective, you realize you have the freedom of choice. The old habits that no longer serve you are replaced with new options. Options for efficient, freer movement.
Clinical somatic education movement classes are based on the work of Thomas Hanna.
Yoga Classes
A somatic-informed yoga practice brings intention and attention to the forefront. This slow-flow approach allows space and time to move from within as we focus on improving the most basic human functions. We’ll clear away our patterns of compensation to reveal our strength and new possibilities for power. Activities like walking, balance, and getting up and down off the floor become easier. Practice bringing consciousness, along with compassion to your yoga practice and life.
Join me every Friday in-person at Shakti Yoga in Maplewood for an integrated yoga and somatics class.

February
Free to Flow
with Gena Rho
Saturday February 1, 2025
11-12:30pm EDT
The cold and winter season can leave us holding more tension than usual, blocking the flow of free movement and who you we are meant to be. We will rediscover our flow with the power of pandiculation and play in the clinical somatic movement practice. We'll add curiosity and play as we move into the patterns of crawling, exploring different relationships to gravity and weight shifting.
March
Connecting the Eyes, Neck and Pelvic Floor
with Katrin Neue
Saturday March 1, 2025
11:30-1pm EDT
We will explore states of deep rest through basic variations of familiar somatic movements, focusing on the eyes, neck, and pelvic floor. We will investigate how small shifts in attention and movement in one area can promote relaxation in other parts of the body along the central axis. Please note that this class includes side-lying positions, so a head support will be necessary.
